Many
programmers are moving towards the world's best operating system LINUX. Actually the Linux
is derived from the Unix. Basically the Unix was invented in year 1969 and written in the assembly code.
is derived from the Unix. Basically the Unix was invented in year 1969 and written in the assembly code.
All
the steps written here are performed first before explaining.
After the research done by Denis Ritchie in year 1973, programming code for UNIX is rewritten
in C language. Now, without asking you to wait, I am explaining you all the myths
related to LINUX installation, individually, as well as in dual boot option
with Windows 7.
RED HAT LINUX with Windows ,With Dual Boot :-
Particularly, this Installation guidelines are for RED HAT 6 (server Edition). Process for the Linux Installation is same for all.
Note: Windows and Linux, both will have to test the same component on the system at the time of booting. Windows has NTLDR and Linux has GRUB, GRUB is much more Strong then the Windows NTLDR, while doing dual boot, Linux GRUB replaces the NTLDR in the Windows. Hence when you will remove the Linux , your bootable file (GRUB) will get delete and Windows NTLDR is already deleted, So your system may not start. In this case Re install your Windows Operating system, better to have Operating system CD/DVD with you or make the Recovery Disk, But recovery disk will delete your all data.
Think twice Before making Your System Dual BOOT.
- First thing you need to have the ISO file written in the CD/DVD/BR-DVD i.e. you need to have the boot-able Media with you. (Not Pen drive).
- In Windows, go to Device Manager (right click on My Computer and select Manage, there select Device Manager OR write Device Manager in the search option by pressing start button). Then go to Disk Management.
- Check there for the free available memory. This depends on the type of partition you made on your Windows operating system. Basically, Operating system is Installed in the C drive, so make sure that the C drive is the Primary Partition and remaining should be Logical Drive.
- For installation of Linux you need to have free space as mentioned hence shrink volume to make a new free space. At least leave 40 GB of free space for LINUX (today you can afford 40GB for LINUX).
- This free space in some of the system looks in light green color. Make sure that the Unallocated memory will not work for the LINUX installation (Black color).· Now, insert the BOOTABLE media in the CD-ROM/DVD. Restart the SYSTEM.Go to the bootable menu in your system, you can do so by pressing F12, F8 or F2 keys in different systems.· Select Boot from CD-ROM, assign its first Priority. After that Reboot the system by saving the configuration. (Reboot will occur itself, no external work is needed for this). After Reboot the system will ask you to boot from CD, frequently press the enter key (you can press any key also, but better to press Enter).· Select the first Option on the four listing. (Fresh/New installation)· It is easy to reach through by your own to the maximum steps. You will reach where you need to allocate the Memory for Installation.· Click on the free memory on the screen and click on create(right side corner).· Here a window will popup, in this window select/bootext4and allow memory of 200MB only. (This is usually use to store the bootable file in the LINUX).Then select/swapin this section provide the memory 1.5 times that of your RAM in System.Select/ (called as ROOT, where all the data is store in Linux)allocate the remaining free memory to the system.· Now go to next, in last rather then selecting the basic server, Select System Development check box. Do not customize.
· Now happily enjoy the LINUX operating system on your system.
RED HAT LINUX 6 server Edition is providing the very large facility as GNU's GCC and G++ compiler got installed in this process automatically as they are attached with the package.
While in the RED HAT 5, you need to install the G++ externally by downloading the file, size of file will around 80MB.
NOTE : It is consider that you are strong capable to read the instruction guided by installation process itself. Here the KEY point to the Installation is Explained.
·
RED HAT LINUX with Windows , without dual boot :-
If you all want to work on the LINUX without disturbing your existing operating system i.e. Windows 7 or Windows XP then, here you will get the solution. If you are serious on working on the LINUX plateform then here follow the step to run LINUX with Windows.
Do not forget the password.
This is how the INSTALLATION will take place.
After installation, When you come back to the Windows. Open the device manager, and then disk management, there you will find the three more drives without main. These three Drives will not have main name on it. These are the Drive partition for the LINUX.
Note : Do not delete or shrink these volume. Don't play with these volume without supervision of Expert.
